Craigslist posted a similar list here, but since I have my very own experiences with my personal nerd, I have to make some adjustments:
- They know stuff. It’s like having our very own dictionary, and you don’t even need to raise your head.
- They provide valid information. They don’t get their knowledge from anecdotes or pseudo-scientists, nor do they spread such.
- Their social skills aren’t as bad as you might think. But there are bad enough so you don’t have to worry about them hitting on other people all the time.
- They can be brutally honest, but at least you always know what your are up against. They are extremely useful if you are looking for real criticism, too.
- Watching them doing handcraft stuff can make you want to throw up. But since they almost never do anything like that, their hands are always smooth and clean.
- You might find them awkward at first, but believe me: There is nothing more awkward than being with someone who is as dull as a meatloaf. Nerds are always at least kind of smart.
- There is always some great topic to talk about. No “Yeah the Nicks rule!” for the 20th time a day, no blahing about his car, no shouting for beer, no awkward “I don’t know what to say”-moments.
- They are well equipped. Besides being your personal computer guru, they can always provide batteries, cables, duct tape…
- Even though they are very open-minded, they have a very well working bullshit detector, too.
- They are used to strictly follow their given assignments and instructions. As long as you “command” your instructions, your work with them will be very easy.
What are your reasons to digg nerds?
